Midget youth grade

This grade is for players of up to 16 year olds.

In this grade, players get to master advanced individual skills and team tactics.

Beginner midget players are required to complete the Kiwi-Hockey programme before they can play with other midget players.

Body-checking is allowed in this grade.

Competitions for midget players

Midget players get to play at club nights. There’s a midget Southen Ice Hockey League as well. Players get to travel all over the Otago and Southland regions to play against midget teams form other town.

A Southern team is entered in the New Zealand Midget Ice Hockey League. This national competition involves travelling to Christchurch and Auckland to play against other midget players from these regions.

The best players of the NZMIHL may be invited to represent New Zealand at the annual Under-16 International Ice Hockey Federation tournament.

Helping the DIHA

The Dunedin Ice Hockey Association Board of Directors meets on the first Monday of every month at the Dunedin Ice Stadium. If you are interested in being involved with the committee and organising hockey events in Dunedin then please contact the DIHA secretary.
