Signed up for the Senior Southern Ice Hockey League

We’ll be putting 2 teams in the Senior SIHL for this year and we are looking for interested players.

What’s the SIHL?

The SIHL is a regional competition for the Otago/Southland region. It takes place over 6 rounds from April to August. Each round takes place in a different city, usually on a Sunday.

Teams will play 2 games per round. Each round costs about $50 per player. Games go on for about 90 minutes (non-stop time).

Who can play?

Junior and Senior players can join a team. Both male and female players can compete. The league is non-checking.

When and where will the rounds take place?

Date Grade Rink
Sunday 12th April SNC – Round 1 Dunedin
Sunday 10th May SNC – Round 2 Gore
Sunday 7th June SNC – Round 3 Tekapo
Saturday 4th July SNC – Round 4 Alexandra
Sunday 9th August SNC – Round 5 Queenstown

What teams will be entering the competitions from Dunedin?

We’ll be putting in 2 teams in the SIHL:

  • the Black Penguins managed by Baz and
  • the White Penguins managed by Maxime.

Both managers will be collaborating to make sure all players have a good time.

How can I join a team?

If you were part last year’s Penguins, please get in touch directly with Baz to confirm if you want to continue with the Black Penguins. The Black Penguins already have their core team lined up. All the open spots will be on the White Penguin team.

If you are brand new to the SIHL or if you played for the Ducks/Outlaws last year:

Please indicate:

  • What round you’ll be able to attend ;
  • If you intend to come to regular club practices.
Places are limited and will be attributed based on the following criteria:
  • Players who can commit to attending all rounds ;
  • Players who took part in previous season of the SIHL ;
  • Players’ ability and willingness to regularly attend practices.
