If you’re not already affiliated to an existing team but would like to participate, there’s some options opened to you.
We might be able to put together a one-off team for the weekend or to match you up with an existing team that might be short of players.
Send your contact details to communications@dunedinicehockey.hellyer.kiwi and we’ll try our best to find you a spot on a team.
Two games will be disputed on Friday night. Saturday games will be played from 7AM to 7PM and will be followed with a social function. The round robin will be completed Sunday morning with the final to be played at 11.30AM.
19 hours of hockey games are planned in total.
The tournament takes the form a of a round-robin followed by an elimination round.
Each team is allowed to have 15 players and 2 goaltenders for the weekend. However it may only dress 10 players and 1 goaltender for any given game. Players may only play for one team.
Erewhon Cup Rules (updated 2004)
The Erewhon Cup is one of the oldest ice hockey tournament in the world. The first edition was held in 1937 on a farm in Opawa, near Albury in South Canterbury. The Erewhon Cup was gifted to the winning team by Mr Wyndham Barker.
True to its origin, the Erewhon cup tournament is held on an outdoor rink. The tournament is also notable for the high level of camaraderie between all teams and players.
