Ireland vs Luxembourg photos and game report

A series of penalties in the first half of the first period gave Luxembourg the opening hand in their encounter in the IIHF World Ice Hockey Championships Division III with a goal scored by the Luxembourg team. The Irish quickly regrouped and leveled the score a few minutes later. The rest of the period was played at a more sedate pace and both teams plonked in a goal apiece to round out the first period 2 – 2. The Irish defense did little to hold out the Luxembourg attack in the second period, losing five goals and doing little to break through the tough Luxembourg defense. The third period saw the Luxembourg consolidate their lead. It wasn’t until the last four minutes of the game that Ireland managed to crack the Luxembourg defense finally and score their second goal of the game. However Luxembourg quickly responded with another goal to finish out the game with an 8 – 3 score over the Irish.
