Looking for a new Treasurer and Vice-President Communication

The Dunedin Ice Hockey Association’s Treasurer, Jacyln Ho, and Vice-President Communications, Maxime Rainville, have informed the DIHA board that they intend to resign at the end of May.

The DIHA is currently looking for replacements for both positions. Jackie and Max will be available to help with training their replacements and to ensure a proper transitions.

Treasurer’s responsibilities

The treasurer is in charge of managing the club’s finances.

Key tasks of the Treasurer

• Depositing cash fee from practices and other activities ;
• Reconciling payment of fees in the DIHA bank account with Club Hub registrations ;
• Chasing outstanding payments from club members ;
• Providing regular financial updates to the board of directors ;
• Providing annual financial reports to the DIHA Annual General Meeting ;
• Book-keeping and record-keeping in the DIHA accounting software.

Required skills to be Treasurer

• Good administration and managerial skills are essentials ;
• Ability to manage debtors ;
• A background in finance or accounting is big plus.

VP Communications responsibilities

The VP Communications makes sure DIHA members are informed of upcoming activities and responds to any enquiries they might have.

Key tasks of the VP Communications

• Managing information on the website
• Sending out newsletter
• Managing the Facebook page
• Replying to enquiries
• Managing the calendar
• Other minor technical tasks

Required skills to be VP Communications

• Excellent communications skills, especially written
• Web content editing
• Good relationship management
• IT skills are a big plus but not essential

About being on the Board of Directors

Both Treasurer and VP Communications are voting members of the DIHA Board of Directors.

Previous experience on community based organisations would be very useful. Both positions are volunteer based and are not remunerated.
