Wakatipu wins South Island Secondary Schools Tournament

Wakatipu won the South Island Secondary Schools Tournament yesterday, beating defending champions St Andrews College 2-0 in the final. In an exciting game Wakatipu scored a goal from the blue line in the first period, and then both teams defended hard in an end-to-end game that was close all the way. STAC finally pulled their goalie in the last minute with two players in the box, and Wakatipu took advantage and put the puck in the empty net.

The final was the end of four days of SISS competition between 10 teams. Christchurch Boys High School took out third over Lincoln. Best performing Dunedin team was Kings High School which finished sixth. John McGlashan player James Brinsdon was given a trophy for top forward of the tournament.
